The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reported strong container traffic in April, with volumes reaching 277,828 TEUs—up 7.4 per cent from April 2024.
Full international imports rose 8.8 per cent, marking 14 straight months of month-over-month growth, while exports dipped 1.7 per cent.

Year-to-date (YTD), volumes are up 15.9 per cent, with imports up 21.7 per cent and exports down 0.5 per cent.

NWSA and Ocean Network Express (ONE), along with top exporter Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co., welcomed the 6,014-TEU Phoebe on its maiden call to Washington United Terminals in Tacoma in mid-April.
Operated by ONE, the vessel is part of the Premier Alliance’s PN1 service, offering direct routes to China, Taiwan, and Japan with an 11-day Tokyo transit.
It features a dual-fuel engine capable of running on ammonia or methanol. Domestic volumes rose 2.5 per cent YTD, with Alaska up 1.5 per cent and Hawaii up 7.9 per cent.
Last month, NWSA announced that its container volumes hit 309,993 TEUs in March 2025, up 18.5 per cent from the previous year.
