South Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) has elected a new President, Mr Woo Ye-jong, for the Busan Port Authority, according to IHS Maritime 360.
This follows news that the previous chief, Lim Ki-tack had left to fulfil his post as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.
Woo graduated from Dankook University and holds a Master's Degree from Cardiff University, beginning his career in the Korea Maritime and Port Administration in 1985.
Woo’s appointment comes at a time when Busan’s port expansion is starting to make progress, with the first phase of its expansion being completed earlier this year.
According to the ministry, Woo has a good comprehension of the current issues facing Busan Port, therefore, the projects for Busan, including its expansion are anticipated to be continue as planned.
Former President of Busan Lim Ki-tack is due to publish a departing Technical Paper in PTI’s Mega-Ports Edition, which is due for release in September.
