New Contract for DP World London Gateway

GB Railfreight has signed a three-year contract to manage the movements and preparation of all trains running in and out of the DP World London Gateway.

The rail freight company commenced operations at DP World London Gateway on the March 17, 2017, and under the contract has expanded its presence at the port, adding eight employees who were previously working at the port for the former operator.

GB Railfreight (GBRf) recently won another three-year contract with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to extend a previous service running container services out of the Port of Felixstowe.

John Smith, Managing Director of GB Railfreight, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to develop our services in London and ensure that the economy continues to function effectively.

“[It will also help] efforts to lower air pollution [by reducing] lorries on the capital’s roads.

“We hope to continue to build on this relationship and ensure that passengers receive the optimum service.”

DP World London Gateway Port recently announced that an off-dock empty container storage yard will be opened at the facility next year.
