Some container operations will recommence on 6 September at the Port of New Orleans (NOLA) following the passing of Hurricane Ida.

In a 2 September update NOLA said the Port America terminal operations are currently closed but the terminal “is tentatively planning” to open gate and terminal operations on 6 September with restrictions.

New Orleans Terminal remains closed also, however the terminal is not preparing for the restart of limited gate and terminal operations on 6 September.

“Port NOLA continues coordinating with navigation partners as well as local and state officials to resume operation safely and as quickly as possible,” the statement wrote.

Effective 1 September 2021 the Captain of the Port New Orleans has set port condition normal.

The Inner Harbour Navigation Canal has been reopened.

Rail Operations have resumed with modified hours of operation between 7:00am and 4:00pm to connect with Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), Norfolk Southern (NS) and Union Pacific (UP) freight services.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as we receive more information,” the port added.
