COSCO SHIPPING Bulk’s vessel M.V. YUAN JIN HAI has successfully passed through the new channel in the central Bohai Sea with a full load.
The 400,000 ton ship was the first to enter and exit the deep-water route of the Bohai Sea, marking the successful launch of the new channel.
The M.V. YUAN JIN HAI loaded 390,200 tons of iron ore, breaking three different records for maximum cargo volume, maximum deadweight tonnage and maximum draught for ultra-large dry bulk carriers berthing at the port.
The ship safely berthed at No. 5 Ore Terminal in Caofeidian Port Area, Tangshan Port, Hebei Province on 22 October.

For years, due to the limitation of the Bohai Bay shipping route, it has been a big challenge for ultra-large vessels to realise the full-load direct call to Caofeidian Port.
COSCO SHIPPING Bulk has finally managed to identify a new route with a water depth that could meet the safe navigation requirement of 400,000 tons ships with a full load.
COSCO Shipping Holdings achieved more than $13 billion in profit in the first three quarters of 2022.
Net profit, as reported by the Chinese shipping giant, came in at CNY97.2 billion ($13.6 billion) in the nine months ending 30 September.
