Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, has signed a strategic agreement with leading crane manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (ZPMC) to drive marine terminal performance.

The partnership, according to a statement, will address opportunities for ZPMC to act as a system integrator and Navis to supply its software and services.

By working together, the two companies expect to meet the critical demand for improved levels of terminal efficiency, optimization and automated operations.

Navis and ZPMC are already “engaged in discussions” on opportunities in India, China and Latin America, with both organizations aiming to provide an integrated solution that will initiate future terminal automation projects.

Other goals of the partnership include automating existing terminal infrastructures and systems, “providing faster pathways to improved productivity”, and achieving higher levels of safety and sustainability.

ZPMC customers will also gain access to Navis’ range of terminal operating solutions and systems, consisting of such services as the N4 TOS and XVELA’s cloud-based maritime network.

Zhou Qi, ZPMC, commented: “Partnering with Navis’ unmatched software and services leadership in terminal operations implementations will continue to open doors for us as we look to expand our footprint even further.

“ZPMC, as the provider of the Smart Terminal One-stop Solution, will work with Navis to help more operators achieve their goals in digitization and automation.”
