Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is expected to release the world’s largest container vessel into its operations – the MSC Oscar – which has a nominal TEU-capacity 19,224 TEU.

PTI previously reported the CSCL Globe, owned and operated by China Ocean Shipping Company, as the largest container ship with a capacity of 19,100 TEU.

The issue of ever-increasing capacity of megaships has also raised concerns over whether ports and terminals will have the crane technology and the yard space in order to facilitate them.

However, just when the industry is gasping at the increasing size of container vessels, a heavy-lift ship dwarfs even those with its capability to actually transport several mega-ships at once.
