A quay crane collapsed during delivery at Tuas Port, with no injuries reported and port operations remaining unaffected, according to PSA Singapore.
The crane tipped over during delivery at a non-operational berth in Tuas Port on 15 June at around 1:20 pm., with no injuries or fatalities reported.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), there was no damage to nearby equipment or facilities, and all operational berths remain fully accessible.
Port operations and development works continue as normal.
The incident is under investigation, with PSA Singapore and MPA working with the relevant authorities.
In February, PSA Singapore reached a milestone by handling 10 million TEUs at Tuas Port since operations began in September 2022. Tuas Port, the world’s largest fully automated container terminal, was designed to meet the increasing needs of international shipping, aiming to enhance Singapore’s position as a leading transshipment hub.
More recently, MPA and Firmus Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the study of sustainable, modular AI factories using seawater for cooling. The collaboration will focus on the research and testing of scalable AI infrastructure that uses seawater-based cooling systems to improve energy efficiency.
