MPA, India partner on maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to work together on maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation.

The agreement commits both nations to collaborate on maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation, focusing on key stakeholders and formalising the partnership through a Singapore-India Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).

The LOI was signed by Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and R. Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary of India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, with Dr. Amy Khor and Sarbananda Sonowal witnessing the event.

India, a leader in IT and a potential hub for green marine fuel production, and Singapore, a global transshipment and bunkering hub with a strong innovation ecosystem, are poised to drive this transformative initiative.

The GDSC will accelerate the adoption of zero-emission technologies and digital solutions, strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Recently, the MPA and the Port of Rotterdam signed an agreement to expand their collaboration on the Rotterdam-Singapore Green and Digital Shipping Corridor.

Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive of the MPA, praised the move as crucial in accelerating the decarbonisation and digitalisation of the shipping industry.
