PTI is very happy to announce that machine learning and Artificial Intelligence expert Dr Leonard Heilig is confirmed to speak at the upcoming Container Terminal Automation Conference 2019 in London, which runs from 6-8 May.
Dr Heilig is a renowned thought leader on maritime exponential technology and has written prolifically on the industry’s data-driven transformation.
He is the author of 30 peer-reviewed papers and serves editor in books and highly-ranked journals in the area of information systems, operations research and maritime logistics.
His most recent Port Technology technical paper, titled ‘Machine Learning in Container Terminals’, focused on the latest breakthroughs in machine learning and explores how management teams in ports and terminals can make the most of the opportunities they create.

Since October 2017 he has been a researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Hamburg, Dr Heilig’s key areas of interest include cloud computing, machine learning, optimization methods and related applications in ports and terminals.
He has also held positions at Adobe Systems and Airbus and was a visiting research scholar at CLOUDS Lab, based at the University of Melbourne, before joining the University of Hamburg.
