Mindanao Container Terminal introduces new China- Philippines service

Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT), owned by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has received the first call of SITC’s new China-Philippines Express 7 (CXP7) service.

According to ICTSI, the new service offers exporters from Mindanao a dependable and effective transit option for improved connectivity to markets in China, meeting the growing demand for fresh produce from Bukidnon, such as bananas and pineapple.

Aurelio Garcia, MCT Chief Executive Officer, said: “SITC’s new service is designed to meet the growing demand for increased calls at MCT that will cater to the needs of pineapple and banana shippers for timely exports to China.”

The CPX7 service makes a weekly call to MCT and rotates through the Ports of Shanghai, Wenzhou, Manila (South), Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro (MCT).

The arrival of the vessel SITC Haode, with a capacity of 1,800 TEU, signified its inaugural visit to Cagayan.

In November 2022, MCT acquired a mobile harbour crane to enhance capacity and boost productivity.

Nine months later in August 2023, MCT welcomed the restoration of Wan Hai Lines’ Mindanao – Hong Kong – Taiwan (MHT) service.
