TOS and ECS systems are evolving, shifting from traditional rule-based setups to self-learning autonomous systems for planning and dispatching.
Supply chain integration is also moving into a new phase. Container terminals have opportunities to shift from standalone operations to ones closely tied to warehouses, empty depots, and inland transport networks.
This shift brings many opportunities for innovation and automation, using solutions like autonomous transport, automated container bridges from container stacks to warehouse docks, and automatic container stripping/stuffing to keep goods flowing smoothly across the supply chain. This builds a connected, efficient network that extends beyond the terminal. Smart data exchange and integrated planning systems between terminal systems, carriers, and warehouses offer clear oversight and boost overall efficiency.
How is your company contributing to the evolution of automation, equipment innovation, or operational optimisation in the industry?
At Solid Port Solutions (SPS), we focus on bridging the gap between automation technology and real-world terminal operations.
Automation projects can fall short of their potential when there’s misalignment between suppliers, terminal operators, and software providers. We work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that automation is not just implemented but delivers measurable efficiency gains. Currently, the SPS team is closely involved in multiple large terminal expansion projects that are happening in the industry.
