The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has signed a long-term deal with Bahri to build and operate an integrated logistics park at the Jeddah Islamic Port.

A total area of 95,436 metre-squared has been leased for the construction of this facility.

“Launching this project forms a core part of our initiatives to achieve the objectives of the National Transportation and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which envisions setting up similar logistics zones within and beyond Saudi ports to empower the Kingdom’s bid to become a global logistics hub as well as to provide world-class logistics services to accelerate economic development and enable overall transformation in line with Vision 2030,” said H.E. Omar Talal Hariri, President of MAWANI.

This is also expected to boost Bahri’s partnership with MAWANI as they share the same logistics goals.

H.E. Eng. Abdullah Ali Aldubaikhi, CEO of Bahri, added: “Leveraging Jeddah Islamic Port’s strategic location, this agreement will further expand Bahri’s import transport, distribution, and storage capabilities and help the company raise the level of its services according to international standards.

“We constantly strive to be a responsible business that builds sustainable capabilities and offers solutions that meet the exact needs of our partners.”

Once construction is completed, Bahri has agreed to manage operations at the park for 20 years. The space will provide storage and handling services for all types of inbound and outbound shipping containers owned by the shipping line and other entities.

Reefer, insulated, and dry containers will all be stored at the facility, with services like container maintenance and repair, container cleaning, bonded storage, and haulage also available to clients.

Back in November 2021, MAWANI signed an agreement with Maersk Saudi Arabi to set up a similar integrated logistics park at the Jeddah Islamic Port.

A total of $136 million is set to be invested over a period of 25 years for this project. It is also expected to create more than 2,500 direct and indirect jobs in the Kingdom.
