Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will undertake several key projects this 2025.
One of the key undertakings is the development of a 2.65-kilometre road that connects the Port of Matadi to the Kinkanda traffic circle via SEP Congo and RN 14 (Route Nationale).
The project entails constructing 906 metres of new road and renovating 1,746 metres of existing infrastructure.
The first phase, which covered the 1.75-kilometre section between the Kinkanda traffic circle and Entrée SEP, was finished in June of last year.
The second phase, which will commence in February 2025, will connect MGT and the exit east to the RN14-SEP Congo entry.

When completed, the improved roadway is expected to shorten container dwell times and streamline cargo deliveries for trucking companies.
It will also help to alleviate congestion in Matadi’s western area, benefiting both the terminal and the surrounding community.
In addition to the road project, MGT also plans to expand its storage yard to accommodate the consistently growing cargo volumes.
Further boosting accessibility and the overall experience for clients and port users, MGT is enlarging its parking lot for customers and stakeholders. In addition, a new pedestrian path is being developed to improve visitor safety.
