A Maersk containership, the MV Sealand Meteor, ran aground recently as it was approaching Antwerp, Belgium, where the ship had to be re-floated with the help of Svitzer tugs at high tide.

PTI previously reported that the Carla Maersk vessel had collided with a bulk-ship along the Houston Ship Channel, where it spilled unknown quantities of Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether into the ocean.

According to gCaptain, the ship ran aground near Vlissingen on its journey from Rotterdam to Antwerp.

A number of shipping incidents have taken place in recent months, with the collision of two container ships along the Suez Canal.

A second incident occurred along the Suez Canal whereby a container ship collided with a boat, killing 13 fishermen.
