Maersk launches new warehouse in Denmark

A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has unveiled its latest warehouse in Fredericia, Southern Denmark.

Located near the Port of Fredericia, the largest container port in Southern Denmark, the facility aims to offer convenient access for supply chain operations.

Fredericia is strategically located within the European transport corridor, with easy access to major motorways, a cross-Europe railway network, and Billund Airport, facilitating connections between Asia and Europe. It sits 100 kilometres from the German-Danish border and 90 kilometres from Aarhus, Denmark’s largest container port.

In addition to its logistical capabilities, the warehouse offers value-added services such as picking, packing, and sorting, along with local fulfilment options and bonded facilities.

The Fredericia warehouse is designed to enhance Maersk’s capability to offer end-to-end supply chain solutions in Denmark and nearby regions.

The facility handles transport from terminals to warehouses, with goods stored and distributed from Fredericia across Denmark and Europe via rail or road. As Maersk noted, centralising supply chain operations ensures smoother transitions, minimising vulnerabilities and delays while enhancing visibility and inventory management.

Located strategically, the Fredericia site aims to optimise logistics efficiency, reducing costs and lead times by eliminating unnecessary transport routes. Its access to multi-modal transport networks also enhances connectivity across Scandinavia.

The Danish giant has also prioritised environmental sustainability in the design of the Fredericia warehouse, aligning with its commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The facility features solar panels, EV trucks for shunting operations, and numerous EV charging outlets.

Just recently, Maersk withdrew from the bid for DB Schenker citing too many challenges to integrate the logistics firm.
