Twill, A.P. Moller-Maersk’s (Maersk) digital logistics platform, will expand its presence in the Polish city of Gdansk as part of efforts to improve European customers’ supply chain journeys.
In a statement, Maersk said Twill strives to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with a simple, reliable and easy-to-use online platform to manage their logistics efficiently and without hassle.
Initially affiliated with Damco, A.P. Moller – Maersk’s freight forwarding and supply chain management arm, Twill has been powered directly by Maersk since 2018, creating multiple operational and customer synergies and strengthening its position as Maersk’s digital logistics powerhouse, the carrier said.
It added that the expansion will include new backend and frontend developers, business analysts, designers and other functions.
Jan Castelijns, Engineering Director at Twill Tech, said, “Maersk is currently transforming into a global integrator of container logistics, and its Technology department is a key player in that journey.
“I am happy that the Gdansk office will play a role in this transformation, and that our own Twillers have been front-runners in this process.”
Digital platforms continue to play a significant role in companies like Maersk which are aiming to improve their end-to-end supply chain offering. This has become particularly important in recent months as demand has increased due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
