A video released by the Port of Long Beach shows that it is the first port in North America to use nine ship-to-shore cranes simultaneously to work a single ship.
The record was set on the 10,000-TEU Hanjin UK containership, with more than 2,000 achieved on an eight-hour shift.
Despite the recent tensions felt between the International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU) and Pacific Maritime Association, Total Terminals International and the ILWU at the Port’s Pier T teamed up to achieve another milestone for the Port of Long Beach.

Coordinating this type of operation took cooperation and full participation from both the terminal operator and the ILWU leadership and workforce.
