The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has signed an agreement with Sultan Logistics to establish a logistics park at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

The project represents an investment of up to SAR 200 million ($53 million).

Spanning 197,000 square metres, the new facility aims to enhance the port’s competitiveness, boost operational efficiency, and elevate the quality of logistics services provided.

The agreement was signed by MAWANI’s Acting President, Mazen bin Ahmed Al-Turki, and Sultan Logistics Chairman, Ali Sultan Al-Qahtani, in the presence of several government and industry officials.

The logistics park will include 35,000 square metres of warehouse space, administrative offices, and a yard for the storage and maintenance of dry and refrigerated containers. It will also contain a re-export area.

In 2024, eight logistics parks and centres were launched, had their foundations laid, or were inaugurated, with total private sector investments of approximately SAR 2.9 billion ($773 million).

These projects are part of a broader plan involving more than 20 logistics centres overseen by Mawani across Saudi ports, with total investments exceeding SAR 10 billion ($2.6 billion).

One of these developments includes Maersk’s logistics facility at Jeddah Islamic Port, covering 225,000 square metres and valued at SAR 1.3 billion ($346 million).

Recently, the ports supervised by MAWANI recorded a 13.61 per cent increase in container handling during March 2025, reaching 699,928 TEUs compared to 616,079 TEUs in the same period last year.
