David Huck, Port Director of Liverpool2, said: “There’s a significant interest in Liverpool2 and the commercial activity in that area is hotting up, it is building critical mass.

“It is fantastic that the world’s biggest shipping line is coming to Liverpool and we are so proud that we have the world’s number one, in Maersk, here.

“We need to get that work back out of the South East, in Felixstowe and Southampton, once they build critical mass; they will want a bigger vessel and will need to go into deep water.

“It is exciting, the training is going well and the workforce is engaged and ready to go.

“I think it is really going to turn everyone’s heads, not just in our community but around the world, getting GBLIV, which is our code, out there.”

PTI previously reported that Maersk Line has scheduled a return to the Port of Liverpool on April 13, 2016 through its intra-European subsidiary Seago Line.
