Navis, a provider of operational technologies, has recently announced a new N4 terminal operating system (TOS) license agreement with Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), located in Latvia’s capital city, Riga.

BCT, has a strategic geographical location in the Baltic region. This positions the terminal well to serve as a gateway to meet container traffic demand to and from the main industrial centres of the Russian hinterland and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Dmitry Kiselyev, IT Manager of BCT, said: “The Baltic region is facing geopolitical challenges, but Latvia’s favourable environment provides us with tremendous growth opportunities.

Guenter Schmidmeir, General Manager of the EMEA region for Navis, said: “We are confident that the upgrade to the N4 TOS will provide BCT with the tools it needs to address evolving industry challenges and emerge as a more efficient and optimised terminal for both current and future customers.”

BCT is spread across 57 ha over the island of Kundzinsala, Latvia and currently handles 275,000 TEU annually.

The terminal is expected to grow by around 10% a year over the next five years.
