A service linking Abu Dhabi with major Asian import and export destinations in Korea and China has been welcomed by port operators and managers, Abu Dhabi Terminals (ABT).

Hanjin Shipping's main line Far East – Middle East Express (FMX) service to Khalifa Port Container Terminal (KPCT) will provide fast transit times to other major Asian ports through regional relay ports such as Singapore and Port Kelang.

“We are delighted that one of the world’s largest and most prestigious shipping lines has chosen to boost its presence in the region by adding KPCT as a port of call on its FMX service,” said Abu Dhabi Terminals chief executive officer, Martijn van de Linde.

“Our aim remains to enhance the direct Khalifa Port Container Terminal liner network and thereby our ability to better serve both local and regional trade.”

The service will bring Abu Dhabi and wider UAE trade additional direct connectivity to major export and import markets.

ABT says it is committed to supporting and developing the growth in the Abu Dhabi market, improving direct connectivity opportunities, providing direct access to the world's major ports and markets and reducing the cost of trade for Abu Dhabi and UAE based companies.

The FMX service port rotation is Khalifa Port, Khorfakkan, Singapore, Qingdao, Kawang Yang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Shekou, Singapore, Port Kelang, Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port.
