Lee Hyungchul has extended his tenure as the current Chairman and CEO of Korean Register (KR) for an additional three years.
This comes as he was re-elected at KR’s general assembly as the company’s 25th Chairman and CEO on 22 December.
Lee has held multiple roles of seniority over his 30 years with KR, including leading key departments such as the Statutory Service Team and Overseas Business Development Team.
Before he was appointed KR’s Chairman and CEO for the first time back in December 2019, he served as the Executive Vice President of the company’s Business Division.

Speaking on his reappointment, Lee said: “The maritime industry is facing many challenging tasks, such as decarbonisation and digital transformation. However, I will use the crisis as an opportunity, and dedicate myself to further enhance the status of KR and the Korean maritime industry.”
Hyungchul’s new term begins on 23 December.
