Grupo CICE has ordered two rubber tired gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes for an expansion project for Port of Veracruz, which intends to introduce two new container terminals in line with the Panama Canal project which is due for completion early 2016.
The RTGs will be equipped with Konecranes’ active load control system, which eliminates container sway to increase container handling performance.
Also the RTGs will also be equipped with Konecranes’ diesel fuel saver technology.
Alfredo Ramirez at Konecranes Port Cranes in Latin America said: “The confidence that Grupo CICE has placed in Konecranes will be rewarded with first-rate container handling performance and reliability when the RTGs enter service.
“I look forward to delivering and commissioning the cranes, and working with Grupo CICE in the future.”
According to a company press release, Grupo CICE stated: “…With this order, we want to optimise the productivity of our operations and offer a better service to our customers, handling their cargo more efficiently, and attracting new customers.”
