Konecranes has been awarded a contract to upgrade the reactor hall overhead crane at Sweden’s Oskarshamn Nuclear Power Plant.
The order was booked in Q4 2023.
According to Konecranes, the crane is critical in servicing the reactor and managing the evacuation of spent fuel casks while adhering to strict regulatory criteria.
The contract calls for Konecranes to develop, manufacture, supply, and install modernisation components, including a new 165-tonne trolley/hoist, over a two-year period.
Ville Majala, EMEA Sales Director, Nuclear Cranes, Konecranes, said: “Safety and reliability are paramount in nuclear operations, and Konecranes has consistently proven its commitment to these values.
“Our track record in implementing modernisations and new equipment projects worldwide over the past two decades underlines our expertise and reliability.”
