Konecranes has acquired the industrial and nuclear crane and crane service operations manufacturing company, Whiting Corporation.

This acquisition will reportedly give Konecranes access to a large installed base of Whiting’s cranes, and access to new customers and growth opportunities for its Industrial Service and Equipment business area.

The business being acquired has some 130 employees in seven locations.

“We welcome this talented group of Whiting colleagues to Konecranes and look forward to driving together our new and exciting growth opportunities,” said Bernie D’Ambrosi, Senior Vice President Americas for Industrial Service and Equipment at Konecranes.

This acquisition comes almost three months after Konecranes and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a licensing agreement for the manufacturing and distribution of Konecranes port cranes in India, thereby expanding its presence in the Indian subcontinent.

More recently, Konecranes launched its new Zero4 research and innovation programme to improve the industrial productivity and competitiveness of Finnish companies.
