Kalmar, a provider of lifting solutions, has agreed a deal to supply seven terminal tractors and six forklift trucks to the Rio Estiba terminal, located in Nueva Palmira, Uruguay.

The order, which includes two fully electric machines, is scheduled to be delivered during the second quarter of 2019, and will help the terminal to mitigate the environmental impact of its operations.

Rio Estiba, which provides port logistics services such as the loading and unloading of cargo, in-terminal transport and cargo handling in port warehouses, will use the new equipment to expand its existing fleet of Kalmar terminal tractors and forklifts.

According to a statement from Kalmar, its Ottawa Terminal Tractor offers durability and comfort to the operator, as well as being powered by a “latest-generation” engine.

While four of the new forklifts are diesel-powered, combining low fuel consumption and strong operational performance, the remaining two machines are fully electric forklift trucks that are “completely emission free”.
