Kalmar – part of Cargotec – has signed an agreement with NTB North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven GmbH & Co. (NTB) to supply 27 hybrid Kalmar Straddle Carriers for their container terminal in Germany.

NTB already counts nine hybrid Kalmar Straddle Carriers in operation at its terminal.

The additional order for 12 hybrid straddle carriers was placed in Cargotec’s Q4 2021 order intake, and the remaining batch of 15 in was ordered in Q1 2022.

The delivery of both orders is scheduled to take place during 2023.

“This investment in hybrid technology will help us pave the way for a more eco-efficient future at our terminal,” said Sören Krüger, General Manager Finance and Administration, NTB.

“We are confident that the high performance of the new Kalmar Straddle Carriers will ensure our ability to continue providing excellent customer service also in the future.”

Earlier last month, Kalmar supplied its SmartPort process automation solutions to the Chilean Terminal Graneles del Norte S.A..

The terminal will benefit from three different Kalmar solutions designed to improve efficiency, security, and productivity.
