Kaleris acquires Locus Software to boost carrier operations
Kaleris has announced the acquisition of Locus Software, a UK-based operations management system for carriers.

This move expands Kaleris’ offering for ocean carriers and shipping lines, providing a comprehensive solution that manages workflows from quoting and booking through to stowage planning and cargo operation monitoring.

The newly acquired carrier operations management system will be integrated with the Kaleris Execution Visibility Platform, enabling shippers, carriers, and terminals to access real-time cargo movement information within a single, connected ecosystem.

Locus Software’s Odyssey cloud platform is designed for easy integration, intuitive use, and accessibility at any time. Within the Kaleris platform, the system will reportedly help in supporting efficient cargo movement, connecting carriers, shippers, and terminals to better coordinate and execute operations throughout a shipment’s lifecycle.

Integration with Stowman DS further extends the platform’s capabilities to include stowage planning, creating a seamless, end-to-end solution for optimal cargo management, reported the company.

Kirk Knauff, CEO of Kaleris, commented: “The addition of Locus Software’s capabilities to our industry-leading stowage planning and vessel reporting solution unlocks a new level of value for carriers.

“Building on the success of our Carrier and Vessel Solutions, our customers will gain new efficiencies from having operations, asset, commercial and financial management activities in one system of record.

“In addition, through our Execution and Visibility Platform, Locus customers can experience an almost instant connection with any of the 560+ terminals using our technology.”

Earlier this year, Cuxport, a modern multimodal deep-water terminal located in Northern Germany, implemented Kaleris’ Navis Mixed Cargo Terminal Operating System (TOS) to replace its legacy system.
