A video released on Monday June 1st 2015 by the Hamburg documents the 15,000 people that congregated at the Port of Hamburg for the sixth Elbjazz festival, where around 50 concerts took place in a 48-hour period.
In the video, Roger Cicero, a Pop and Jazz Musician, commented on the importance of the event, saying: “Well, we’ve been celebrating jazz since the-day-before-yesterday so I’ve come to feel at home here and I’ve spent a lot of time here. I think its great; it all fits well.
The Port of Hamburg saw its best-ever container throughput result in 2014, after seeing an increase of 4.8% for the year.
How the Port of Hamburg became mega-ship ready
Due to a modified strategy at the port to facilitate the handling of mega-ships, the Port of Hamburg’s operator Hamburg Hafen and Logistik AG was able to improve its operating result by 10% year-on-year to around US$181.5 million TEU.
During this period, the port was able to achieve a new throughput record of 7.2 million TEU.
