The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPTA) has revealed that it handled 603,219 TEU in July, the biggest monthly container throughput ever recorded at the port.
According to the port, this figure has exceeded the previous record of 594,793 TEU established in March 2024.
The port noted that this achievement represents a solid month-on-month (MoM) growth of 16.39 per cent, underscoring JNPA’s pivotal role in India’s maritime trade.
In July 2024, JNPA handled 7.54 million tonnes of total cargo, which is 9.09 per cent over traffic in July 2023.

Comparing July 2024 to the same month in the previous fiscal year, JNPA handled 530 container rakes and 84,494 TEU, versus 511 rakes and 83,426 TEU.
From April to July of 2024, JNPA handled 2.29 million TEU of containers and 29.53 million tonnes of total cargo, which is an increase of 5.82 per cent and 12.07 per cent, respectively, over the same period in the previous fiscal year.
JNPA reportedly handled 2,064 container rakes and 327,803 TEU from April to July 2024 as opposed to 2,041 rakes and 325,593 TEU in the same time of the previous fiscal year.
