The Israeli military has confirmed strikes targeting docks at Yemen’s Hodeidah port, a strategic Red Sea facility controlled by the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, in response to recent attacks from Yemen.
The Israeli military stated the port was being used for weapons transfers, marking the first direct naval strikes by Israel against Houthi positions.
The escalation comes as Yemen’s Houthi movement declared a maritime blockade on Israel’s Haifa Port, further raising regional tensions and affecting global shipping routes.
While most Houthi projectiles have been intercepted or fallen short, the attacks have reportedly disrupted traffic along a key global trade route.
Reuters reported that there were no immediate accounts of casualties; however, Israeli officials had earlier warned of additional measures against Houthi leaders should the attacks continue.

Reuters further revealed that Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said that continued Houthi attacks would trigger a naval and aerial blockade of Yemen’s ports. On the social media platform X, Katz said: “We warned the Houthi organisation that if they continue to attack Israel, they will face a powerful response, including a naval and air blockade.”
