Dr Eva Savelsberg, Senior Vice President of INFORM’s Logistics Division, has discussed the importance of looking beyond quayside processes to find optimization improvements as opposed to focusing on the rail yard.
In the video with Port Technology, Savelsberg explained why a visit to a terminal made understanding what direction it should take clearer due to the “unique fingerprint” of each facility.

Dr Savelsberg said: “You really have to go [to the terminal] and have a look to understand the processes and have a look at the weak and strong parts.
“It’s like a chain. It’s only as strong as the weakest link, so optimisation, and optimisation modules, give the unique possibility to strengthen the weak part of the chain.”
