Investments Propel Halifax Container Volumes

The Port of Halifax has received new investments, as well as new services which have both  put the port on track despite a decline in the container market, after seeing container  volumes rise by 4.6% to 418,359 TEU in 2015, according to the American Journal of Transportation.

Patrick Bohan, Director of Supply Chain Logistics at Halifax Port Authority, said: “The entire port community has been working to increase cargo volumes.

“This positive trend has been ongoing since April, 2015, and while it is encouraging, there is still much to be done.

“The goal now is too see this trend continue – there is available capacity at the terminals and on the vessels thanks to the new and expanded services.”

A previous video published by PTI showed the importance of diversification at the Port of Halifax for ensuring that it can increase economic growth.
