European port authorities are pushing operators to increase containerised cargo volumes travelling into mainland Europe to go via rail or barge.

As a result of larger container volumes combined with the obligation of port operators to transport more over the European inland waterways, a major growth of intermodal container terminals is expected in the upcoming years.

BCTN Meerhout, BENELUX’s largest intermodal container terminal, has contracted TBA to support its future expansion plans.

TBA will assess the current mode of operation and several future alternatives giving the Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditures (OPEX) for the different modes of operation over the upcoming years.

TBA has been involved in over 500 container terminal projects, as well as many intermodal projects worldwide and is market leader on Simulation, Emulation and Software for container terminals.
