An infographic published by shipping agents Tuscor Lloyds, shows Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering company as the second largest shipbuilder in the world.
The company created close to six million tonnes of steel in 2014. The builder was previously in talks with Maersk Line for the construction of ten 20,000 TEU ships.
According to the BBC, the world’s largest shipbuilder is Hyundai Heavy Industries, with a yard that spans around 2.5 miles, and is capable of building a ship every four to five days.
Daewoo were responsible for the construction of the MSC Oscar, which is currently the largest ship in the world and cost an estimated US$140 million to build.
