An infographic released by power and automation provider ABB shows a comparison of the world’s first containership against the current world-largest containership, which is the MSC Oscar, Oliver and Zoe at 19,224 TEU.

In a previous infographic, it was shown that the MSC Oscar cost a total of US$140 million to build and Manchester United’s football pitch can fit onto the vessel 3.1 times.

In this infographic, the MSC Oscar is able to transport around US$1.2 billion worth of cars, in contrast to the $6 million in 1956.

Travel distances have also dramatically increased, as the MSC Oscar is able to travel around the whole world; the SS Ideal X was only able to travel half this distance.
