An infographic released by container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd shows the technology and design which has been applied to its ships in order to make them more eco-friendly.

In a previous article published by PTI, an infographic detailed the ship-parts required to construct the ultimate green ship.

Hapag-Lloyd’s ships are equipped with sewage holding tanks and sophisticated yield management systems so that the number of empty containers aboard ships are reduced, thereby reducing emissions.

Container shipping line Maersk has also acted to reduce its carbon footprint with the introduction of its eco-friendly containers.

Ports are also playing their part to improve the state of the environment. The Port of Long Beach recently released its Green Port Policy infographic which outlines the methods it is using to lower its carbon footprint at the port.

The Port of Los Angeles has also acted to lower emissions through the introduction of LED Plasma Technology to cut energy consumption by 50%.
