A fire broke out in the engine room of the Singapore-registered bulk carrier MANDY while the vessel was off the coast of China.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the incident occurred on 17 February 2026 at around 7.35 pm local time.
The fire was extinguished by the crew.
There were 25 Myanmar nationals on board at the time of the incident. No Singapore nationals were on board.

Two crew members have since been reported deceased. A third crew member was evacuated ashore and is receiving medical treatment.
No pollution has been reported. Arrangements are being made to tow the vessel to Yantai Port, China.
