International Container Terminal Services, Inc.(ICTSI) has announced the construction of its new terminal in Bauan, Batangas, in the Philippines.
The Luzon International Container Terminal (LICT) is planned to be finished by 2028 and will be the Philippines’ largest privately funded maritime terminal investment, becoming the country’s second-largest container facility, behind the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).

Beyond capacity growth, LICT is designed to assist the Philippines in meeting its renewable energy targets, notably in Southern Luzon.
As the country transitions to renewable energy sources, the new port will strive to meet the region’s increasing demand for efficient and ecologically friendly maritime handling solutions.

Nathan Clarke, ICTSI Vice President and Head of Global Engineering for Infrastructure and Project Delivery, said: “This boosts our capacity and helps lead the shift toward a more sustainable shipping industry. Our new Bauan terminal’s ability to accommodate large ships sets it apart and positions us as a leader in efficient and eco-conscious trade.
“At the end of the day, if a terminal is unable to handle larger vessels, it’s also unable to fully embrace the new technologies leading to a sustainable future.”
