Hyperloop One’s SVP of Worldwide Field Operations Nick Earle is set to join PTI’s second annual Terminal Automation & Training C-Level Networking Conference, taking place in London on April 19-20, 2017.
Earle has confirmed that he will be introducing other executive presenters as the keynote speaker for 'Beyond Moves Per Hour and Terminals of the Future', the most popular conference session for 2017, sharing lessons learned from his role in designing and building the first new mode of transportation since the airplane.
Hyperloop One has raised more than US$160 million so far and has recently built the world’s first Hyperloop in Nevada and will commence full scale testing by June of 2017.
The idea is to transform transportation by accelerating magnetically levitated pods sized for people or freight through low-pressure tubes at very high speeds direct to their destination. In its most extreme form, passengers could safely reach speeds of up to 750 mph. Freight systems running continuously and autonomously would allow same day delivery over very long distances, reducing the need for truck based transportation.
The futuristic system was revived in 2013 by environmentalist tech visionary Elon Musk, whose original vision was to create a high speed route between Los Angeles and San Francisco in the U.S. Hyperloop One co-founders Josh Giegel and Shervin Pishevar believe it can go far beyond that and create global networks that will change how we live forever.
The Los-Angeles based company received funding from port operator DP World in 2016 after forming a partnership in August to investigate the feasibiity of creating inland dry ports to transform the current port experience and free up expensive dockside real estate. The company is targeting the first operational freight systems for 2020.
At the PTI conference, Earle will be revealing Hyperloop One developments from his viewpoint as an overseer for global field operations, including channels, alliances, projects, consultancy, maintenance and building an IoT platform for mobility applications.
Earle, who describes Hyperloop One as “broadband for transportation,” left Cisco in October 2016 to work with startups, having served as SVP for all of Cisco’s cloud go-to-market activities globally. He is an active investor and advisor to many early stage start-ups including: Eseye – a leader in wireless connectivity in the IoT space, Victor – the world's leading platform for private jet hire, Fairsail – the UK's leading HR SaaS company, Kimble – the UK's leading Professional Services Automation company and Buckitdream – the world's first social network dream platform based in Los Angeles.
In August 2015 he was voted second in CRN's list of the 25 most Disruptive Channel Executives in IT globally and in May 2016 he was recognised as one of the top four Global Cloud Executives who “have shaped cloud’s present and will likely have a major impact on its future” by CIODive.
