A video released by the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) shows the process of testing mega-ships before they are used to transport cargo, and will be tested at a wind tunnel at Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation using model ships.

While using model-ships within the wind tunnel, the port authority is keen to learn about how wind affects a large container ship when it is moored at the port.

The idea behind the testing process is to look at how the port authority can optimise its mooring procedures, which includes mooring lines and mooring points, to enable the port to dock the next generation of mega-ships.
