The CEO of Siemens' Crane division, Dr. Christian Koegl, has explained how the company is injecting new innovation into the port sector's crane equipment through digitalization.

The exclusive interview at TOC Europe 2017 explored what digitalization trends will impact the port and terminal environment and how Siemens' product portfolio will ensure the industry keeps up with the pace of technological change.

Siemens not only develops bespoke simulation solutions for its customers but also uses the technology to advance other areas of its R&D.

Koegl said: “We're using these [simulation products] to automate the systems. We have a modular approach to the automation.”

Siemens recently partnered with Myanmar Mahar Htun to provide technology and solutions for Myanmar’s ports in a move aimed at driving operational efficiency, productivity, and safety.
