HMM unveils new Far East - Latin America service

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has announced that it would establish a new route connecting Far East Asia and Latin America to provide better service.

HMM and Ocean Network Express (ONE) will work together to run the new route, branded as the Far East-Latin America Express (FLX).

The FLX’s inaugural voyage will sail from Shanghai on 16 August, with a round-trip duration of 42 days.

The port rotation is as follows: Shanghai – Busan-Lazaro Cardenas (Mexico) – Busan – Shanghai

An HMM official said: “We have launched the FLX as the cargo from China to Mexico increases. The new service will provide customers with a premium loop rotation serving Far East Asia to Mexico trade as well as additional network coverage between Asia and Mexico.

“The FLX will be joined with our existing NW1 (New West Latin America Service), NW2, and NW3 services to provide an extensive network connecting Asia and South America.”

Recently, the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) listed HMM on the Controlled Carrier List as a controlled carrier by the Korean government.
