Heavy Fog Disrupts Shanghai Port

Heavy fog has severely impacted ocean freight carrier services and operations at the Waigaoqiao and Yangshan terminals at Shanghai port, according to a report by BDP International.

The fog has blanketed the Shanghai and Yangtze River Delta area from March 27th, 2018.

Traffic control measures have been implemented along the Yangtze River waterway and Shanghai port by the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration.

Over 1550 barges and ships have been delayed along the river channel, and ocean-going vessels have had their schedules affected – with reports of average delays of 3 to 7 days at Waigaoqiao terminal, and 2 to 3 days at Yangshan terminal.

Delays are expected to continue for some days while normal port operations recover.
