A 13,100 TEU Hanjin containership caught fire towards the south of the Suez Canal on Friday May 1, 2015, according to gCaptain.

PTI previously reported that an animal feed vessel had burst into flames in Warrenpoint Harbour, an incident that required an emergency response crew to be called to the scene.

It was said that the Hanjin containership broke out into flames after a stack of shipping containers had caught light aboard the ship.

No injuries have been reported and emergency response teams were able to extinguish the fire.

An incident involving two containerships catching fire also took place recently after the ships collided in Port Klang, Malaysia. Senior executives were called to the scene to resolve the situation.
