A breaking video released by the Port of Hamburg shows its process for building an ‘icebreaker’ ship.

The port is in the process of renewing its icebreaker fleet as the original ships were built in 1950s and have reached the end of the shelf life. It is essential for the ships to modernised as they are vital for transporting goods via canals.

Due to regulations, the ships were extended and widened, while at the same time ensuring that the draft remains the same.
