Eva-Maria Tschentscher, Hamburg’s First Lady, has christened the Hapag-Lloyd fleet’s newest containership in the Port of Hamburg.
The new vessel is the largest containership to ever sail under the German flag. It is the flagship of the ‘Hamburg Express’ category.
This class has 12 containerships with a capacity of up to 23,664 TEUs. Containerships of this class are 399 meters long and 61 metres broad. They are employed on Hapag-Lloyd’s strategically crucial East-West routes.

Every spacecraft is fueled by dual-fuel technology. Ideally, the ships would be able to run on green methane.
When compared to regular marine diesel, this reduces GHG emissions by 95 per cent. The ships can already operate on LNG.
This decreases CO2 emissions by 15 – 25 per cent, sulphur dioxide emissions by up to 95 per cent, and soot particles by 95 per cent. Other features include an optimised hull, high-efficiency propellers, and shore power.
