Ultra-Brag AG and Haeger&Schmidt Logistics have upgraded their container line ‘Blue Arrow Line’ with the newest 5G reefer monitoring system from Identec Solutions.
Haeger&Schmidt Logistics from Duisburg and Ultra-Brag AG Basel offer a container liner service along the Rhine from Antwerp/Rotterdam to Basel and vice versa under the name ‘Blue Arrow Line’, as well as a new service that improves cold chain security and traceability: mobile 24/7 monitoring of temperature-sensitive cargo on board six inland vessels.
At the same time, Ultra-Brag AG is increasing reefer container monitoring at its terminals using Identec Solutions’ newest 5G Reefer Runner technology.
Reefer Runner is already installed at the company’s terminals, and this upgrade aims to enhance its customer support capabilities.
The use of the same ‘Reefer Runner’ technology on both ships and terminals reportedly ensures continuous monitoring of the cold chain from Basel to one of the main seaports, and vice versa.

Customers receive digital voyage reports while their reefer containers are at the container terminals in Basel and Andernach, as well as on the Rhine.
Maik Bastian, General Manager of the Intermodal division at Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, said: “By equipping our Rhine vessels with the Reefer Runner 5G, we ensure the highest safety standards in the cold chain and provide our customers with greater transparency and control over their cargo.”
Identec Solutions explained that the new technology allows for autonomous remote monitoring of temperature, humidity, power supply, and other factors to ensure safe chilled transit.
Additionally, any discrepancies are reported to the ship’s captains immediately, and a manual examination of the reefer container begins during the journey.

The land-based control centre can help with the inquiry because the alert is visible on their monitors.
