Gulftainer has set a new record for the largest single unloading and loading of a single vessel call at its Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT), at 19,561 TEU.

The terminal staff completed the record-breaking call of the CMA CGM Jules Verne container ship with the help of 11 cranes in only 54.5 hours. The 396 metre long and 54 metre wide vessel is the largest container ship in the world sailing under the French flag.

Due to its unique location, KCT has been one of the most important transhipment hubs for the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Sub-continent, the Gulf of Oman and the East African markets.

With this new record KCT has demonstrated its ability to accommodate these large container volumes and to keep pace with the increasing volumes generated because of large container ships that sail through this region.

KCT recently received the ‘Shipping Port of the Year’ honour at the 2015 Supply Chain & Transport Awards (SCATA)
